When personalizing your own custom canopy designs there are a couple of things that you can choose from. These choices help to personalize your canopy. While a canopy is first a foremost a functional piece of a building or structure, by mixing several types of styles you will end up with a canopy that is both functional and beautiful.
What Are Customization Options For Your Canopy?
One of the easiest ways to customize your canopy is by choosing a custom color paint. There are many different colors of paint that you could choose from. When choosing a color you can go several different ways. You can match the color of the building or you can choose an accent color that will help your business or home stick out.
Another option is to choose a perforated canopy style. With a perforated style shapes or holes will be carved into the metal of the canopy. This allows light to seep through and can allow for some extremely creative art to be added to the canopy. Be careful when deciding when to do a perforated canopy or not. With the extra holes, it will not prevent water or snow from leaking from above to down below.
What Are The Different Canopy Styles?
When designing your perfect custom aluminium canopy there are several things that you need to consider. Among these is the style of canopy that you will use, as well as if that style will mesh with your chosen design ideas and building. To help you get a jump start on the design process here is a quick look at each of the different canopy styles that you can choose from.
Hanger Supported
Hanger-supported canopies are the simplest out of all these options. The canopy is supported using hangers placed above the canopy to support it. Can only be used on buildings that can support the weight of the hangers.
This canopy style is a relatively simple one and is best used for practical or traditional canopy designs. The benefits of this style are that it is easy to install, simple to make, and requires almost no maintenance by the owner. The downsides are that it requires plenty of open space above the canopy to place the hanger supports and that some buildings may not be able to hold the supports properly.
Cantilevered
A cantilevered canopy anchors itself to the wall eliminating the need for support pieces or frames underneath. Cantilevered canopies are best used for canopies where you want to emphasize sleek lines or reduce the profile of the canopy.
The benefits of this style are that you get a trim and sleek canopy, and that canopy does not require large amounts of space above or below in order to secure it into place. The downside is that with minimal support, a cantilevered canopy is limited in size.
Post Supported
Post-supported canopies rely on posts extending up from the ground to support the weight of the canopy. The posts allow for the placement of large and traditional aluminum canopies. The post-supported style can be used with almost every type of building and doorway.
The benefits of this style are that it provides the most stable form of support out of all these style options and allows you to design custom pillars or posts that can be made to fit specifically with a canopy. The downside is that you need these supports in place before the canopy is installed. If they are not there, you need to build them before installing the canopy.
Arched
Arched canopies use the curved shape of an arch to support the canopy upright, but are often mixed with another canopy style. Best used for dynamic designs or on occasion, to add flair to a different type of style.
Provides a distinctive and recognizable style. However, due to its shape, it is limited in how large the design can be.
Curved
Curved canopies project farther out in the middle of the canopy and drawback towards the building wall on each end of the canopy. Best used for designs intended to create a large amount of shade/cover or for buildings with wide entrances.
A curved style canopy is extremely flexible allowing you to design it with unique shapes or even around the corners of buildings. However, due to its size, it will require an additional form of support from one of these other canopy styles.
Custom
Custom canopy styles can be a mix of several of these different canopy styles or can be an entirely new style for a custom project. Best used for situations in which a mix of 1 or 2 of these canopy styles will not be sufficient for the final design.
